A Step by Step Process to help students request books and articles through Interlibrary Loan.

Beginning Your Research

Need an article or book to complete an assignment?  Can't find enough information in Young Library's holdings?  Try Interlibrary Loan! Let's get started!

What You Need to Know:

What You Need:

  • A list of key words/ search terms about your subject
    • Look at your research assignment.  What is the main idea? What do you want to know?  Make a list of words that you can put in search boxes.
  • Does the article or book need to be scholarly or peer-reviewed?
    • Peer-reviewed articles and books are written by experts in that field that add to the knowledge of the topic.
  • How current does the article or book need to be?
    • Do you need an article or book that is published in the last 5 years?
    • Do you need an article or book from a specific year or time frame?
