Kentucky Christian University's Young Library Virtual New Orleans Vacation

A virtual guide to New Orleans, LA that includes virtual tours of the areas

Welcome to New Orleans!

Welcome to our June 2022 virtual vacation to New Orleans sponsored by Kentucky Christian University's Young Library! While we no longer are experiencing COVID restrictions, sometimes it is still nice to take a vacation even when you cannot get away from school or work.

Virtual Vacations are also very budget friendly!  You do not have to have a car, pay for plane tickets, or put gas on your credit card.  You do not have to pay entry fees and you do not have to pay for a place to stay.

You can take a Virtual Vacation by yourself, with your family, with your best friend, or with your pet.  All of our suggestions will be free.  However, if you find something you enjoy, access your favorite search engine for similar activities and resources.  We would be happy to help you find things of interest.

This month we are headed to New Orleans!  New Orleans was founded in 1718 by French colonists.  It is the home of many cultures that have mixed in unique ways.  It is known for its music, its food, and its streetcars.  Join us as we experience a little of this city even if you do not have time to visit there this summer!

We hope that you enjoy this and encourage you to contact us on Facebook or Twitter and let us know how your vacation is going!  Laissez les bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!).........

How to create an Account in Open Library

Almost all of the books that you will find on this vacation came from Open Library.  Openlibrary.org is an online library.  They digitize books and then keep a copy of the book so that it functions like your local library.  This is free and you only need to sign-up to access any of these titles.  Follow the steps below to set up your free account.

1. Go to www.openlibrary.org

2. Click on the button on the top right that says "Sign Up"

3. Enter your email address, a screen name, and a password

4. Confirm that you are not a robot by clicking in the box at the bottom of the boxes

5. Click on "Sign up"

You should now be able to access all of the books in this vacation!  Don't forget that they can also count towards our summer reading!
