Impressionism in art focuses on painting how an object appears in terms of color and light (IMPRESSIONISM Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster). Monet was always interested in light. This caused him to paint the same scene over and over again. He did not change the object, but he did change the time of day, the type of weather, and the seasons. His series on the Cathedral of Rouen is a good example of this.
