Jules Verne was a French novelist, poet, and playwright who lived from 1828 - 1905.  Seurat lived within this same time frame and could have read some of Verne's books.  Jules Verne has been the second most translated author in the world since 1979.  In 2010, he was the most translated French author in the world.  Verne was always interested in writing. However, his father wanted him to be a lawyer and so Verne did complete a law degree before devoting most of his time to becoming a writer.

Below you will see 6 of his notable works listed.  Beside each book cover you will see a link for the location at either the KCU library or the Carter County Public Library, an audiobook link, and an e-book link. Click on the book covers for a description of the book.
