There has been no culinary discussion regarding Grandma Moses, despite her rural lifestyle. As a New England homemaker, she would likely have made many soups, stews, roasts, and baked many biscuits and pies. As such, we will represent her heritage and culture with wonderful stew and homemade biscuits recipes.
New England Beef Stew

An old-fashioned beef stew is a filling staple comfort food for rural New Englanders. Traditionally, all the ingredients for the stew were farm to table - home grown in other words. Rich with hearty and filling root vegetables, this is the perfect meal to warm a belly after a cold day on the farm or in the woods.

If you have ever woken up to the smell of fresh-baked, homemade biscuits, count your blessings! It's one of the most comforting sensations I can recall. Just remember that homemakers like Grandma Moses got up extra early to prepare this treat for their family. So, remember to thank the people in your life who go the extra mile to show you love through such acts of service. Trust me, hot, homemade biscuits are love! They are also so versatile. Eat them with butter, jam, egg and bacon, or with sausage gravy. If you have leftovers, save them for the beef stew above.
