This step-by-step process is using the example of the terms "Classroom Management" and "Best Practices".  You should use the search terms of interest to you that are available within the parameters of your assignment.  Please refer to your syllabus for further guidance.

• Start your search by setting up a multi-database simultaneous search.  You will find directions for doing this under Locating Research Articles.  The directions are located in the left hand column.
• Type the following search terms in the two boxes at the top of your search screen:
  • Top box - "Classroom Management"
  • 2nd box - "best practices or guidelines or evidence-based practice" (This list of terms will popup as you begin to type best practices.)
• You should see a list of approximately 3,186 results
• According to your assignment directions and rubric:
  • Your article must be peer-reviewed.  In the column on the left of the page, click on the box in front of peer-reviewed - You should now see approximately 1,309 articles on your results list
  • Your article must also be current which means that it should have been published within the last 10 years,  Change your date range bar to 2013 - 2023.  You should now see approximately 610 articles on your results list
• Using the sidebar on the left you should be able to continue limit your article results
  • At the bottom of the column you will see the list of the databases that had results.  You can select a database if you only want to see the articles in a particular database.
  • You can also narrow by subject heading
    • Click on the arrow next to Subject
    • Click on the "Show more" link at the bottom of the list
    • For this example we selected the following:
      • elementary education
      • best practices
      • classroom environment
      • evidence based education
      • classroom management research
      • evidence based management
      • United States
• Click on update.  You should have a total of 237 articles
