Museum of Appalachia

Welcome to the Museum of Appalachia!  This Smithsonian affiliated museum is located in Clinton, Tennessee.  It was founded in 1969 and is a living history museum.  At this museum you can explore 35 log cabins, barns, fam animals, churches, schools, and gardens. There are over 250,000 artifacts in 3 of the buildings.  Some of the artifacts are items such as folk art, musical instruments, baskets, quilts, and Native American items.  Click on the image on your left and take a tour of this Museum!

The Museum of Radio and Technology is located in Huntington, West Virginia.  The entire state of West Virginia is located in the Appalachian region.  The mission statement of this museum is :

“The mission of the Museum of Radio and Technology is to preserve, restore, display, celebrate and explain historic electronic equipment, programs and other artifacts from broadcasting’s heritage; to provide education in the history of broadcasting and electronics as well as in the repair and restoration of electronics equipment; to offer an enriching cultural experience to citizens of and visitors to our region and, thus, to enhance their lives; and to bring credit to our region as the repository for a collection of historic objects that is acclaimed for its excellence throughout the world.”

Even though the museum is not very far away, it can be difficult to find time to get there.  The museum has a 4 part virtual tour!  It looks at Radios, Educational Toys, Television, and Records and Hi-Fi.  You can start the virtual tour by clicking on the image at the top of this section!
