Organizing Your Research using ZoteroBib and Google Folders

This Guide will provide step by step directions for using ZoteroBib with Google Drive to provide a way to organize and access research materials all in one place when completing a research assignment.

ABOUT THIS STEP

Zotero Bib is a free citation tool that will place all of your citations into a Bibliography.  In order to keep your Bibliography with your resources, we are recommending that you store your Bibliography as a document.

 

KCU is a Google campus which means that your KCU email address will allow you to store documents on Google drive.  By saving your Bibliography into a folder , you can ensure that your Bibliography for an assignment will be available when you need it.

HOW TO DO IT

  • Open your Gmail account
  • Click on the Google Apps squares on the right
  • Select "Drive"
  • On the left hand side of the screen click on "New"
  • Click on "New Folder"
  • Name your folder 
    • Suggestions: "Research"
  • Click on "Create"

You can repeat this process within your Research folder to create subfolders for different Research assignments.

SUGGESTION

It is easy when you are using Google Drive to quickly end up with a large number of grey folders.  By changing the color of your Research folder to red, you will be able to identify it quickly.  This will save you a little bit of time.

To Change the Color of your Research Folder:

  • Right click on your Research Folder
  • Click on "Change Color"
  • Select the "red" color block
  • Your Folder can now be identified quickly.
