Tomorrow we will be making a visit to Busch Stadium! Relax this evening and watch The Pride of St. Louis. It is about "Dizzy" Dean, a major-league baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs in the 1930s and 1940s.
A must to experience in the summer months in St. Louis is Frozen Custard! The high percentage of butterfat and egg yolk gives frozen custard a thick, creamy texture and a smoother consistency than ice cream. To experience this treat at home, try this recipe from Food Network! Just click on the photo below for the recipe.
Day 1 is a travel day. It takes about 6 hours and 30 minutes without stopping to reach St. Louis, Missouri from Grayson, KY. Take a few minutes and stop in Collinsville, IL, just before you cross the Mississippi River into Missouri, and stretch your legs at the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site.
Cahokia Mounds State Historic site is the location of a pre-Columbian Native American city. The park covers about 3 and a half miles and contains about 80 mounds. Today, it is considered to the largest and most complex archaeological site north of the great pre-Columbian cities in Mexico. It is also one of the 24 UNESCO World Heritage Sites within the United States.
