It is our final day in St. Louis and we are headed back to Forest Park!  today we will visit two more museums - The St. Louis Science Center and the St. Louis Art Museum.  These are huge facilities so let's get started!

St. Louis Art Science Museum

The St. Louis Science Center was founded as a planetarium in 1963. It now has over 750 exhibits and consists of over 300,000 square feet.  There is an OmniMax theatre and a bridge over Highway 64 where visitors can clock the speed of the cars below.  It is the largest science museum of its type in the United States.  Click on the entrance photo below to take a video tour of the Science Center.

St. Louis Art Museum

The St, Louis Art Museum is one one of the principal U.S. art museums, with paintings, sculptures, cultural objects, and ancient masterpieces from all corners of the world.  It is 3 stories tall and contains over 34,000 objects dating from antiquity to the present.  It is divided into 9 areas:

  • American
  • Ancient & Egyptian
  • Africa, Oceania, Americas
  • Asian
  • Decorative Arts & Design
  • European to 1800
  • Islamic
  • Modern & Contemporary
  • Prints, Drawings, & Photographs
