It is Day 3 and today we are exploring the lighthouses of Lake Superior! Lake Superior is the largest Great Lake of North America. It is also the largest freshwater lake by surface area. It is the 3rd largest lake by volume. Let's begin by an overview of many of the Lake Superior Lighthouses!
Next, we are headed to Split Rock! This lighthouse was opened in 1910 and had been requested by the US Steel industry. In one storm in 1905, 29 ships had been damaged, many of them belonging to the steel industry. By 1939, it was advertised as the most visited lighthouse in the United States.
