Three more states to go on our Great River Road virtual vacation!  Our next stop is Arkansas.  The Great River Road passes through the Arkansas Delta Byways region.  There are 11 state parks, 18 state wildlife management areas, and numerous regional, county, and local museums.  Click on the photo below to get more ideas of places to visit virtually!

 

 

Historic Dyess Colony/ Johnny Cash Boyhood home - Dyess, Arkansas

 

The Dyess Colony was created in 1934 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal to aid in the nation’s economic recovery from the Great Depression. As a federal agricultural resettlement community, it provided a fresh start for nearly 500 impoverished Arkansas farm families, including the family of music legend Johnny Cash. World War II Japanese American Internment Museum - McGehee, Arkansas

 

The World War II Japanese American Internment Museum is located in McGehee, Arkansas.  It features exhibits regarding the area history of Japanese American Internment in the 1940s when more than 17,000 Japanese Americans were housed at nearby War relocation centers during World War II.  Click on the photo to take this virtual tour to find out more about this part of our World War II history.

FOOD - Arkansas
