The Online Catalog lists information on books and e-books that are owned by Young Library

The Worldcat catalog is used to locate print books and journals in other libraries.  These can be acquired through Interlibrary loan as well as direct visits if the library is located near you.

  • Citation information boxes
  • a dictionary
  • Table of contents
  • Indexes

Please contact a librarian if you need assistance.

PRINTED MATERIALS

Printed Materials can be identified in our catalog as items having the "Book" icon as well as having a traditional Dewey decimal number in the Call # box for each result.

  • To check out a title and have it mailed to you - copy the information for the specific title from the result list including the call #.  Email that to nenders@kcu.edu.  In the email include your Name and mailing address where you would like the book to be sent.  Books must be returned with a trackable mailing number.  Books are checked out for 3 weeks at a time and can be renewed.
  • To see the Table of Contents or an Index of a book - copy the information for the specific title from the result list and email it to nenders@kcu.edu.  The pages will be scanned and emailed back to you as soon as possible.
  • To have specific pages of a book scanned - provide the specific title information from the result list with the page numbers that are needed.  These will be scanned and emailed to you as soon as possible.

Worldcat is an international catalog.  It contains information on materials that are available from other libraries around the world.  This is a free service for you to use.

To use the Worldcat catalog you will need to do the following:

1.  Starting on the "Catalogs" page, scroll to the bottom to the red letters that say "Worldcat" and click on it

2.  Your screen should say "FirstSearch: WorldCat Advanced Search" at the top

3. Type your search terms or a specific title into the search box then click on search

4. The tabs across the top of the results list will divide the list by material types

5. Clicking on the title will provide detailed information.  Immediately under the description of the title you will see a section labled "Get this item". "Availability" will tell you how many libraries own this item.  The more libraries that own it, the easier it will be for us to acquire.

6.  If the title is something that you need, click on "Borrow this item from another library" and fill out the form.  More help for filling out the form is available on the "Interlibrary Loan" tab in this guide.

Please contact a librarian for any help you may need.
