Tortillas!  This flatbread has a long shelf life, is very inexpensive, and can be used for a lot of easy to put together meals.  Recently,  #TortillaWrapHack went viral post on TikTok.  It has now moved over to Instagram and many videos are also available on YouTube.  Google the hashtag to find a plethora of ideas to try!

  1. Lay your flour tortilla flat on a plate.  You can heat it slightly in the microwave if you would like.
  2. Make a cut from the center of the tortilla to the edge.
  3. Think of the tortilla as having 4 areas to fill
    1. For the section on the bottom left, you want something sticky or saucy so it will help hold your ingredients in.
    2. I usually put my protein next, then cheese, veggies, and fruits in the last two quarters.
  4. Start to fold your tortilla by folding the bottom left section to the top, fold the section over to your right, and then fold it down to cover the last section.
  5. Heat if needed.

The book Tortillas by Sarah Cook has just been added to our library and has many ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert!  Google #TortillaWraphack for a bunch of additional ideas.  You can heat up your tortilla, if needed, in a microwave, which makes it cheap and dorm friendly!

One of these wraps can be satisfying, but if you are hungry, I would suggest starting with 2 of them.

Here are a few suggestions in the order I would put them on the tortilla to help you get started:

  1. Ranch dressing, Cooked chicken (canned is fine), bacon bits, and tomatoes - Chicken Bacon Ranch
  2. Mayo, bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes - BLT
  3. Pizza sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and a veggie of choice like onions or mushrooms or extra pepperoni or cheese! - Pepperoni Pizza
  4. Taco seasoning mixed with sour cream, black beans, grated cheddar cheese, and lettuce - Black Bean Taco
  5. Yogurt or Sour cream, Strawberries, granola, banana - Breakfast parfait

I did a calculation for you for a pepperoni pizza wrap tortilla and it came out to $1.50 per tortilla!

Stop by the library and check out the book or do a Google search and let me know what your favorite fillings are!
