God's Eyes were first made in Mexico during the 1400s by the Huichol people.  They used them as prayer and protection and one article stated that a father would start the center of the God's eye and then would add a round every year for the first 5 years of his child's life.  Now these are commonly found in Mexican, Peruvian, and Latin America communities.  They are even common to the Pueblos of New Mexico.  Mostly they are a fun and colorful craft that you can make with two sticks and some yarn or string in a few different colors.  They also make really cool Christmas ornaments!
